So, what is a BlackBerry Launcher? It's a file you install on your BlackBerry. After installing you'll see a new icon on your home screen. The icon is of the Puget Sound chapter Logo and when you click on the logo it opens the BlackBerry web browser and loads the Mobile Guide site for the 2008 ALA Conference!

Do not try to download this link from your computer. Only from a BlackBerry browser.

Download the BlackBerry Launcher here!

After you click on the link above you'll be prompted to download a small file onto your BlackBerry. This link will not load or serve any purpose on your desktop computer. It's only useful if downloaded on a BlackBerry.

DEMO TIME!

Below is a YouTube video upload we've prepared to show you how easy it is to load on your BlackBerry. You can only view a YouTube video on a PC (not on a BlackBerry). However you can download a video for viewing on your BlackBerry here ).

(A big THANK YOU to our friends at BBSmart for building the BlackBerry Launcher!)

REMOVING THE LAUNCHER

So, now that conference is over you're probably wondering how to remove the PSALA logo from your home screen on your BlackBerry.

  1. Go into the "Options" menu/icon (You should see Options of "About", Advanced Options, Auto On/Off, etc)
  2. Select Advanced Options
  3. Select Applications (this will bring up a list of all applications loaded on your BlackBerry)
  4. You should see the item named "ALASeattle 1.0" listed at or near the top
  5. Now, if you have a scrolly thing on the side of your BlackBerry click it and select Delete from the menu that pops up.
  6. If you have a newer BlackBerry with the trackball, click on the BlackBerry menu button (just to the left of the ball) and select Delete from the menu that pops up.
  7. Follow the remaining instructions as it comes up (should only be one step of something like "Are you sure?")
